Programs

People will often ask me why would someone do CrossFit over Strength and Conditioning or vice versa. It really just comes down to goals. There isn’t necessarily a right way or wrong way to train. There are just your goals and then figuring out the optimal way to achieving them.

Crossfit

CrossFit is a group or class based fitness program that focuses on GPP (General Physical Preparedness). The program spends time working on several areas of fitness to include, but not limited to, strength training, conditioning, endurance, stamina, flexibility as well as developing new physical skills.

Aside from making sure that each day includes some strength work and some conditioning, our program doesn’t overemphasize or focus on any one aspect of fitness. Instead this program designed to improve all areas of fitness equally to create a high level of GPP so that you are capable of handling anything that life throws your way.

Strength & Conditioning

Unlike CrossFit where the program doesn’t emphasize any one particular aspect of fitness, our strength and conditioning program indexes heavily toward building increased strength and muscle development.

This program is designed for members who are interested in a more specific training regimen designed to help them achieve their goals of increased strength and muscle development.

This program is just as much for women as it is for men. Paired with a proper diet, this could be the program to help you get what you want out of your training.

We still work on other aspects of fitness but strength and muscle development is where we spend most of our time. Conditioning is included but emphasized less than other things in this program. That it why it’s called Strength and then Conditioning.

Regardless of your specific goals building strength and most muscle is an important component of long term health and fitness.

We know from studies that the average person will lose 50% of their muscle mass from 50-80 year years of age. For this reason we feel it is important to build a solid foundation of muscle as you go into your later years.

If you’re not sure what program is best for you schedule a time to sit down with a coach to discuss your goals and we can help you figure out the best path for you. Another option is to give each program a try and see which one you like better.

Private Training

Private training is without a doubt the most value packed program we offer. Instead of a coach dividing his or her time up between 10-15 people all that knowledge and attention is focused squarely on helping you to get better and achieve your goals.

Private training is great for people just getting started, struggling to achieve a particular goal, dealing with an injury, or just looking to get some help taking things to the next level.

PT really is the foundation of a successful and fruitful experience in anything we do. If you’re looking to get into anything new, from skiing to becoming a great cook, the fastest and most effective way to learn is to spend time one-on-one with someone who is already an expert in the field.

Regardless of how long you’ve been training and whatever your goals may be, consider scheduling some one-on-one time with a coach to bump things to the next level.

Open Gym

Open gym is for those who have completed our fundamentals program, are a little more experienced in the gym and comfortable working on their own, open gym is a great additional benefit to your Luminary membership.

Open gym is a great opportunity for people to spend some time outside of class working on areas that need improvement or adding some extra strength work in on top of doing the CrossFit class.

Again, this is only for members who are already proficient in the gym and looking to dedicate a little extra time to achieving their goals. For those who aren’t quite ready to attend open gym or aren’t sure how to best utilize the time, scheduling a private training would be a great way to help figure that out.
